Ibrahim Kante– Defender

Although “Abe” Kante is a native of Mali he has been playing the trade of a professional footballer in the United States for several years. Kante played at CCBC – Essex from 2001 and 2002 for Crystal Palace coach Pete Medd. While at CCBC Essex he earned National Soccer Coaches Association of America/adidas Junior College First Team All-American honors in 2002. Abe had a brief stay with the New England Revolution during the 2003 MLS season making two appearances with the first team. In 2004 he played 20 matches in the USL First Division for the Milwaukee Wave United.

Kante may sound familiar to local fans since he is a former member of the Baltimore Blast. He was a member of the 2003-2004 and 2005-2006 MISL Championship teams. In 2004 - 2005 he split time with the Kansas City Comets and the St. Louis Steamers. Palace fans should keep an eye out for Abe’s wicked shot on set pieces. He has already tallied once this season against Charlotte.
