Baltimore MD – Crystal Palace Baltimore are pleased to announce the re-signing of Harold Urquijo. The 19 year old Colombian native showed tremendous promise as a member of the inaugural Crystal Palace Baltimore squad, scoring twice in fifteen appearances during the 2007 season. Urquijo turned pro at the age of 17 with Academia FC in the Colombian 2nd Division and has represented his country at U-17 and U-20 levels.
“Harold is a talented young player who made huge strides last year.” said Co-manager and President Pete Medd. “He is one of the most skillful players in the league but he still had some learning to do. We’re seeing in pre-season camp that he’s matured tremendously – his approach is much more professional. We plan to use him in more of a midfield role, probably on the left wing. So there’s the potential for a very dynamic left-sided attack with Harold playing in front of Val Teixeira.”
Co-manager and Sporting Director Jim Cherneski added: “Harold had an excellent match against Palace UK in London last autumn, setting up two wonderful chances that should have been converted. I’d like to see him finish more himself this season. He’s a technically brilliant left-footed player who’s deceptively quick. He’s been working really hard this year – he’s much, much stronger, both physically and mentally.” |
